Process.
Each session is slightly different. It’s a welcome creative challenge, but the goal is the same: to capture interesting, creative images that connect - and to have fun while creating.
-
These are relaxed, low-pressure sessions. If you’ve been meaning to update your headshots, or want something that sits slightly outside the usual casting look, this is the right one for you.
Think somewhere between a headshot and an editorial portrait. I like to shoot further away first then closer in to capture your typical head & shoulder image. Smiling, frowning, day dreaming, neutral, with attitude or even apathetic - there’s no right or wrong.
We’ll keep things simple – good light, nice music, minimal direction and space for you to settle in. Aiming to create images that connect and feel like peak you on a good day.
-
Once you book a session we’ll chat over email and confirm dates & times. Sometimes I put together a mood board for us to reference, but saying that we always mix it up on the day.
I shoot 99% of portraits & headshots in my home studio in Brunswick West (a separate studio built at the bottom of the garden).
It's a casual, no stress environment that gets the best out of me and sitters. My dog sometimes sniffs the sliding doors, the kids occasionally jump on the trampoline, we play music, drink coffee or tea and together capture the best photos we can.
During the shoot we’ll mix and match backgrounds to compliment your clothes, move stuff around to find the best pockets of light and basically just chat, make jokes and listen to music.
I’ll show you the images as we go and together we’ll make adjustments, tweaking things here and there. After the shoot I’ll send you a curated contact sheet minus the blurry and duplicate ones so you can choose your favourites.
Then once you’ve settled on your favourites I’ll apply a light re-touch, colour correct and get rid of any distractions in all of your images. Finally supplying you high res & web friendly files for you to start using.
-
Aim for clothes that make you feel good, smart or casual & we’ll try a few different looks. If your clothes make you feel good, it’ll read on camera.
I always recommend bringing 4 or 5 options mainly tops, shirts, t-shirts, jackets etc.
Also bring one prop, like some classic sunglasses, funny hat, crazy scarf - something that you love to wear and makes you feel happy or matches your personality.
Colour wise; solid colours are always best, dark, light or bright, in any shades. Then throw in an option with a pattern to mix things up.
-
Of course you can! I’m happy to capture a LinkedIn style headshot for you.
Generally people come to me for something a little different - a creative headshot or portrait. Think somewhere between a headshot and something more editorial. I like to pretend we’re capturing a still scene in a movie, or tv series.
That said, most of the time we capture a traditional, smiley headshot style pic, then mix it up with more creative images. Why? because its more fun for you and me and anyone else who sees the images :) -
All sessions are designed for actors, musicians, models and creatives who want images that feel honest, minimal and a little creative.
Session 1 - Great for anyone needing a quick creative image update. 1 hour in studio is just enough time to chat, relax and get some top shots.
Session 2 - More time, more variety, more images in the sweet spot. 2 hours in studio is great for sitters that want more variety & choice.
Session 3 - Great for people needing a wide selection of different, creative images. 3 hours in studio, including a little time on location, close by.
